  • The Marine Conservation Society, probably the leading UK based Marine Conservation Organisation. Members can join Seasearch, UK and Overseas research dives studying and recording UK marine wildlife. There is ongoing research into Jelly fish distribution linked to the recording of UK turtle sightings. Please download the Jelly fish and Sea Turtle identification guides and reporting forms. Other projects include Basking Shark, Fan Shell and Pink Sea Fan studies as well as the publication of the annual Good Beach Guide and Adopt a Beach events. www.mcsuk.org

  • Probably the best Shark Site on the Web. Includes make your own sharkometer, great cartoons and Dot to Dot, but also some really serious stuff like the Basking and Whale shark projects, the Great Egg Case Hunt and Skates and Rays. www.sharktrust.org

  • Bite Back campaigns for the Protection of Sharks by reducing consumer demand for shark meat and fins. They have good shark wall paper for those not technical enough to create their own. www.bite-back.com

  • The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust. This organisation pioneered locally based conservation in the Hebrides. They run a volunteer programme for those interested in helping to record Whale and Dolphin sightings. www.whaledolphintrust.co.uk

  • Bimini Biological Field Station (sharklab). This is a shark research station under threat as a result of the destruction of the Mangrove to make way for a tourist development on this island in the Bahamas.
